After the World Fly Fishing Championship was over where did some of the competitors go to catch salmon on the fly??

We know! Our guides took them there...

During the summer months, guests can wade the river for wild Rainbow, Cutthroat and Brown Trout or float tube lakes loaded with Rainbows and Bass eager to take a fly.

From September to mid-December the Cowichan River is the spawning ground for tens of thousands of Chinook (king), Coho (silver), and Chum salmon.

Guided drift boat excursions are the best way to see the river and maximize your hook-ups. Experience the thrill and excitement of catching these large, powerful fish.

The worlds largest anadromous Coho salmon of 32 pounds was caught at the mouth of the Cowichan River. Our guides know where and when to be to give you the best chance at hooking a monster! Chinooks to 60 pounds and Chum to 25.

From mid-December to mid-April the Cowichan hosts one of the largest runs of STEELHEAD on Vancouver Island. Some of these brutes have been caught weighing in at 30 pounds of solid, line screaming muscle. Large Cowichan River Browns to 14 pounds are also a worthy and challenging target.3a.jpg (13396 bytes)

Our guides have decades of experience on the River and know the runs and pools which produce the best.

Spend the day fly fishing or gear fishing for these "Kings of Sportfish" from the comfort of a heated drift boat.

During spring, summer, or fall you can head out on your own to nearby lakes or wade downstream from the lodge.  Float tubes, waders, boots, and rods are available at the lodge at no charge to guests.  We offer casting lessons for beginners again at no extra cost.

B.C. has over 17,000 kms of coastline.  Salmon travel the entire  length of it - you don't have to pay extra to fly up north to hook salmon.

Customize your stay - perhaps a fly into a remote lake.  Enjoy spectacular scenery on the way.  Then float tube for fat rainbows on the fly!
