Marsh Bay Resort is a
quiet family style camp nestled on the shores of the Montreal River, just off Hwy. # 11.
It has been owned and operated by the OBrien family since 1976. Open year round, our
services include Cottages, Camping, Trailer Sites, Boats & Motors, Fishing, Hunting
and Snowmobiling. The Montreal River is a calm body of water and is one of the main
tributaries of the Ottawa River System. It was used extensively by early explorers, miners
and loggers as they carved out settlements that are now the communities of Northern
Ontario. Our whole area is rich with history. Silver was discovered at Cobalt in the early 1900s, and the town became known as The Silver Capital of Canada. Skeletons of abandoned mines remain in the community to remind us of days gone by. The "Heritage Silver Trail" features six historical mining sites from the early 1900s. It is a self guided tour including picnic tables, viewing platforms, and walking trails. The "Cobalt Mining Museum" offers a unique display, dedicated exclusively to silver mining. While in Cobalt, plan to visit "The Bunker Military Museum". It is located in the old Ontario Northland railway station overlooking Cobalt Lake. The Bunker is filled with interesting Displays and educational military history to reminding us of those who fought and gave their lives for our freedom. The town of Latchford is an old logging community and is home to the "House of Memories Museum". Their annual "Logging Days" celebration offers entertainment for everyone. Haileybury is host to the world famous "Haileybury School of Mines", a mining and technology college that attracts students from many different countries. The "Haileybury Fire Museum" offers excellent displays depicting early life in the community located on the shores of Lake Temiskaming. The giant water slide at the Haileybury beach is a popular spot on hot summer days. ![]() The town of Earlton, thirty minutes from our camp, is home to the Temiskaming Wildlife Centre. View more than 200 animals representing 40 different species. Available at the zoo are educational kits, picnic area, playground, snack bar and souvenir shop. Our camp is in a peaceful rural setting, but we are only a few minutes from all amenities. For the shoppers in the crowd, we have modern malls and four large grocery stores in the Tri-Towns. The Highway Book Shop is a favorite of book lovers from Canada and the U.S. Our four local towns all have liquor stores and offer all kinds of dining, ranging from fast food outlets to good family restaurants. Churches of almost every denomination are found within a few minutes drive. Our hospital is fifteen minutes away. Two golf courses, one 9-hole, and one 18-hole, can be enjoyed in Haileybury and New Liskeard. Marsh Bay Resort
