A DAY OF FISHING AND ADVENTURE
 TO REMEMBER FOR A LIFETIME

The Island Lake Camp "River Trip" produces a truly memorable day for the fishing and outdoors enthusiast. It is a time spent surrounded by awesome scenery, excellent Walleye, Small Mouth Bass, Northern Pike and Perch fishing. Fun and knowledgeable guides who will become friends will prepare an excellent shore lunch with the rugged beauty of the Canadian Shield as the backdrop.

It is a beautiful blue-sky morning and the day begins at the main dock where we board the pontoon boat with friends and guides. Along the 5 km ride to McWilliams Falls,  a hot coffee will take the morning chill off the hands and the day's events and tactics will be discussed.

At the falls we will move into our fishing boats and  The fishing begins. The fishing with Gordie begins earlier than with Steve as Gordie goes for the quick first fish, usually a nice Small Mouth right at the weeds after the falls. Steve will scoot down to the first hole and go for the early morning Walleye.

So goes the morning catch, release, catch, release, walleye, bass, walleye, bass. If we are lucky the morning should also produce one or two large northerns. Throughout the morning we have covered about 7 km of the river experiencing everything from weedy bays, calm pools, swift water and even a little white water.

The shore lunch is prepared at the beautiful Ragged Chutes were guests are free to view these incredible falls, stretch, swim or sip a cool beverage beside the fire. The lunch is simple but oh so tasty. Fresh fish, fried potatoes with onions, baked beans and fresh tomatoes satisfy the hunger we have worked up in these great outdoors.Island Lake Camp

The afternoon will be spent fishing our way up  river going for the big ones we left behind earlier. On the way both guides and guests will be picking their favourite spots to catch a  picture instead of an eater.

After docking the John Boats and boarding the pontoon boat at McWilliams Falls the  relaxation begins. Beverages may be opened and the days stories will be shared among friends and guides as we leisurely return to camp.

Back at your cottage after a hot shower, put a  steak on your grill, open a cold one and imagine as you rest your tired body in a deck  chair and view the glorious sunset how you  can't wait for next year's "River Trip".
