The Experience Begins.... As you leave Hwy. 64 and travel 3½ miles to the end of the road, you will begin a truly northern experience. When you arrive you will find 8 well appointed, pine decorated cottages encircling a quiet bay Island Lake (Thistle Lake), part of the Temagami Waterway System. After you have settled in, let us take you on a tour of beautiful Island Lake. We will point out the best fishing spots and recommend tackle and technique. Secluded sandy beaches, waterfalls and our own hidden bay will beckon you. Back at camp, relax at the water's edge and view the glorious sunsets from your screened-in porch. When the evening turns cold, gather around the woodstove, enjoy a game of cards or open a good book.
Activities Enjoy a swim, hike or lounge on a sandy beach. Fish the river with a guide. Canoe or paddle boat the pristine waters. Watch for moose, bear, fox, beaver, wolf and countless birds. Listen to the loons call. Watch the Northern Lights dance.
Fine Fishing and Hunting
There is abundant game in our surrounding forest...Bear, Moose, Ruffed Grouse and Ducks. We offer completely guided Moose Hunts, as well as Fall Bear Hunts. Our Grouse/Duck Package or Grouse/Fishing Package is a favorite of our many repeat guests.

About Us Island Lake Camp was established in 1946 by Harry Morel, who recognized Island Lake as a ideal location for a Tourist Camp. Excellent fishing and hunting was the order of the day. Bob Carswell carried on the tradition for 19 years. Today many guests remember the Carswell years with great fondness. For 3½ years, Gerry and Jeanne Ouelette operated Island Lake Camp. Gord and Ellie Mitchell & family began in 1976 and are still
here today as owners/operators. Every year, upgrading and improvements have helped make I.L.C. a comfortable modern facility, still retaining the remote wilderness setting. Island Lake was and remains today a limited access lake offering excellent fishing and hunting opportunities. We are the only Outfitters on the Lake. Our goal is to provide our guests with comfortable, clean and private accommodations. A truly wonderful outdoor experience is what we strive to achieve for our guests.
