At the Camp
Camp Waterfall is all about people,
families and friends. Some families have been coming to our camp for
decades, and have become lifelong friends with folks from other states or
provinces, because they always share the same week. In this picture several
families are sharing a wiener roast. |
The focus of activities at the camp is the waterfall
where you can enjoy a natural jacuzzi while hanging onto a ski rope or challenge the falls
in an inflatable. |
For a different kind of thrill, try going down our
slide backwards.
You can enjoy a relaxing time sunning on the docks, or
cooling off in the deep pool below the falls.
The area above the falls is shallow and sandy, and the
sand bar that rises up in the river is a perfect place for younger children to enjoy the
water.
Just upstream of the shallow pool starts 1/2 mile of
rapids. You can hike along the original Indian portage beside the rapids, and there
are places where you can sit on the flat rocks and sun yourself or dangle your feet in the
clear rushing water.
The camp has many land-based activities
and facilities as well. There is a screened patio where people gather to
play cards, swap stories, or have a large group dinner. We have picnic
tables and a propane barbecue. There is a horseshoe pit and badminton court.
For the kids there are swings, a sand box and a play structure complete with
its own boat.
In season there is good blueberry picking nearby.
If you enjoy viewing wildlife then you can frequently see bald eagles, blue herons,
ducks, loons and humming birds and on occasion mink, otter, beaver, deer, black bear and
moose at the camp or on Blindfold Lake.
In the Area
Within a mile of the camp is Rushing
River Provincial Park with its natural history museum, outdoor theatre,
nature trails, beach and playground. A general store with a miniature golf
course is nearby. Three golf courses are within a half hour drive, and
Kenora, with its fine restaurants, shops, movie theatres, boat and float
plane sightseeing tours, is only 25 minutes away.
