Pozniak's Lodge
Pozniaks is one of the oldest hunting and fishing resorts in Northern Ontario. Hewn
out of the forest by Bill Pozniak, who came to Marten River in the early 1900s to
trap, fish and hunt. The lodge and cabins Bill constructed from cedar and spruce logs
still stand today, a testament to his engineering abilities, although he could neither
read nor write. The clientele back then were strictly fishermen and hunters, so the
accommodation was quite rustic, but as time passed, the men began to bring their wives and
families, so electricity, running water and inside washrooms were installed.
Pozniaks while retaining as much of its original atmosphere as possible has
modernized the cabins, to make it the perfect vacation spot for the whole family. (CENTRAL)
