Bow Narrows Camp - Red Lake Ontario
Plan your trip

Sky views by day or by night can be breath-taking

Red Lake and Northwestern Ontario normally has the most glorious summers in the world. But just in case you happen to hit a wet spell, bring excellent quality rainwear and footwear. Get the best-Gore Tex or commercial grade rainwear. If you can stay dry in bad weather, you will always be comfortable.

Average daytime highs:
May 60s, June 70s, July and August 75-85, September 60s.

Remember to bring sunscreen. The sun this far north is intense in the summer and the days are exceptionally long.

T-shirts with jeans or shorts and lightweight boots or sneakers are comfortable almost all summer. You'll want a jacket for mornings and evenings and a heavy sweatshirt or sweater if the weather turns cool and rainy.

Housekeepers, the Red Lake IGA is a great supermarket, both for selection and prices. Why bring heavy ice-laden coolers from home when the same items are available right in Red Lake? Tell the cashier to pack your groceries in cardboard boxes because you are going fishing at a camp. They do this all the time.

Please bring beer and soft drinks in cans rather than bottles.

We don't put a weight limit on you but since we must travel to the camp by boat, everything you can do to lighten your load is very much appreciated.

Also, please do not bring:
1. Electrical appliances with heating elements. Our generator cannot handle them.
2. Cast iron pots and pans. Our cabins are outfitted with cast iron pans already. If you need a special-size pot, ask at the lodge and they will loan you one.
3. Barbecues and charcoal. We have them for you.
4. Propane fish cookers and 20-pound tanks. We can loan you one.
5. Duffel bags, plastic totes and coolers big enough to hide a body. Pick a size that is easy to carry and easy to load and unload in our cabin cruiser boats.
